Kevin O’Connor has been in the building industry for over 22 years with residential building experience including new housing, alterations, additions and renovation work.
Commercial construction experience includes concrete formwork, foundations; interior finishing and fitouts and shop fitting.
Kevin ran his own construction company for many years with a staff of several Trade Qualified Builders; He was a Registered Master Builder and managed many residential and light commercial projects working with Architects/Designers/Engineers and coordinating and organising such sub-trades as Plumbers, Drainlayers, Excavators, Electricians, Roofers and Painters etc.
As a trained and Licensed Insulclad Installer he also gained extensive experience and knowledge in Plaster/Monolithic type cladding systems, their associated finishing details and flashing systems and potential problem areas.
Some time spent with a roof maintenance company increased his knowledge of various roofing issues to both new and older type roofs including Decramastic and concrete tiles.
He has extensive experience in dealing with City Council Building Officers and Consent & Building Permit issues including the searching of Council Property Files on behalf of customers. Kevin is approved and authorised to carry out Safe and Sanitary and also Unauthorised (non-permitted) Works Reports in the North Shore City, Auckland City and Waitakere City Council areas.
He has also been trained and periodically engaged by the Earthquake Commission (EQC) to carry out earthquake damage assessment and estimating for repairs to earthquake affected buildings around New Zealand.
Over the last six years he has been involved in the House Inspection Industry, carrying out Pre-Purchase House Inspections including Moisture Testing for hundreds of satisfied customers and the documenting of maintenance issues for prospective home buyers and vendors. He has enjoyed working with Investors, Real Estate Agents, Mortgage Brokers, Lawyers and lending institutions.
